Dictation

Introduction

Dictation Mode in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) is designed for applications where the goal is to capture extended speech as accurate written text, including punctuation and formatting.
Building on Continuous Mode, Dictation Mode not only transcribes free-flowing language but also processes linguistic nuances such as pauses, sentence boundaries, and special verbal cues.

Key Advantages of Dictation Mode

  1. Accurate, Natural Text Output
Handles long-form speech with attention to punctuation, capitalization, and formatting, reducing the need for manual editing.

  2. Supports Productivity and Documentation
Ideal for replacing or supplementing typing, particularly when speed or mobility is essential.

When to Use Dictation Mode

Choose Dictation Mode if:

  • Your application needs long-form, free-flowing transcription with proper punctuation.

  • The primary focus is on documentation, note-taking, or report writing.

Examples include:

  • Writing medical or technical reports verbally.

  • Composing emails or messages hands-free.

  • Recording meeting minutes or interview transcripts.
